Russian Gypsy 7-string guitar duo Russian Gypsy 7-string guitar duo "Timofeyev and Kolpakov" specializes in the traditional music, songs and dances of the Russian and Roma (Gypsy) tradition. Oleg Timofeyev holds an M.A. in Early Music Performance from the University of Southern California (1993), and a Ph.D. in Performance Practice from Duke University (1999). In 1989 this interest brought him to the U.S. where he studied with Patrick O'Brien, James Tyler, and Hopkinson Smith. His recent projects include "Guitar in the GULag: the works of M. Pavlov-Azancheev," and "Guitar Music by Georgian Composers," including the works of Niko Narimanidze, Tengiz Shavlokhashvili, and German Dzhaparidze.

He went on on to perform in such diverse venues as the Chamber Jewish Musical Theater in Moscow, the Krasnoyarsk Musical Theater in Siberia, the Karelia State Musical Theater and the Music and Comedy Theater in St. Petersburg. After touring Finland, France and USA as a member of the Classic Retro Trio, at present time Sergei lives and works in New York. He has given many one-man shows of Gypsy and Russian music in St. Petersburg and has performed in many Russian cabarets. Although blessed with an outstanding tenor voice, he captures the raw passion and feeling of this musical genre.

During his military service, he was soloist of the Air Force Orchestra and Chorus of the Red Army. From the age of 19 years, competing with singers of 21 countries, he won the Grand Prix in the International Competition of the military songs. Boris can sing different musical forms: Russian popular and love songs, rock and love ballad, the jazz, the popular writings of Broadway, the Jewish and Latin America songs, arias of opera. Boris Kletinich recorded several discs under tab "Melodiya" in Russia. His transcription of Bach's, Beethoven's, Albinoni's piece of music (with his text) is very original. As a principal dancer, he danced with the Kiev Theatre of Classical Ballet, Antwerp Classical Ballet, Polish Ballet Theatre, St. Petersburg Conservatory of Classical Ballet, Kiev State Theatre, and Odessa State Theatre as well as in the US with Egelevsky Ballet, Staten Island Ballet, Tulsa Opera Ballet and New York City Opera Ballet.

He has performed with the Anglo-American Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, Michael Mao Dance, Nai Ni Chen, All Nations Dance Company and the Syzokryli Unkrainian Dance Ensemble.

He has graduated from Voronezh Dance Academy in Russia and has worked for various dance companies in Russia including Rhythm Planet under direction of Boris Sankin (former first cast of famous Moyeseev Russian Folk Ensemble). Mikhail started to perform with New York based Russian folk dance and music ensemble Barynya in 2004.
